Tesla Owners of Florida, Inc.

This Privacy Policy explains how Tesla Owners of Florida accesses, collects, uses, and shares information on the website and in the TOC Florida mobile apps. It is publicly available without a membership login.

Who we are

Tesla Owners of Florida, Inc. (“TOFL,” “we,” “us”) operates the website at https://teslaownersflorida.org and the TOC Florida mobile apps for iOS and Android. Contact: info@teslaownersflorida.org. This Privacy Policy is public. You do not need a membership login to read it.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the website we collect the data shown in the comment form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images from the website and extract location data that is embedded in those files.

Cookies

If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies so you do not have to fill them in again. Those cookies last for one year. If you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to see if your browser accepts cookies. That cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. If you log out, the login cookies are removed. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved. It includes no personal data and indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, and articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you visited that other website. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including if you have an account and are logged in on that website.

Account and content in the mobile app

If you use the TOC Florida app, we access, collect, and use the account details you provide, including name, email, phone number if you submit one, membership status, and the region you select. We also collect content you choose to submit, such as forum posts, marketplace listings, photos and videos, chat messages, event comments, and forms. We collect device push tokens so we can send notifications you allow. We do not sell your personal information.

Location data

We access, collect, and use location data from the TOC Florida apps when you choose a location feature. We do not sell location data or use it for advertising. Check In uses your device’s approximate or precise location to confirm you are near a mapped meetup. On Android, while the app is open, Check In can offer a nearby check-in. On iPhone, if you allow location all the time, the app can notice when you arrive near a meetup and check you in even when the app is not open. Club Drive collects and uses your live location to show your pin to other members on that drive only after you tap Share my location, and only while the app is open. Sharing pauses when you leave the app. Neither app accesses location in the background during a club drive.

Microphone

Microphone access is used for optional push-to-talk during a club drive you joined, and only while the app is open. The microphone captures your voice only when you press talk. Club radio stops when you leave the app.

How we use information

We use this information to operate the website and the app, including membership, events, club drives, check-ins, badges, the marketplace, notifications, safety, and club administration. Service providers such as website hosting, maps, and push delivery process data only to provide those services.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email. Other members may see profile information and content you choose to share, such as listings, forum posts, comments, or your position during a drive you joined. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the club and members. We do not sell personal data.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments. For people who register on the website or in the app, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile for as long as the account is needed for club operations, legal obligations, and dispute resolution. We use HTTPS in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have left comments, you can ask for an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including data you provided to us. You can also ask us to erase personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. In the app you can update your display name and notification preferences, decline location, microphone, and notification permissions, and tap Stop sharing location or leave a drive to end live location sharing. From More, then Account, Delete and Cancel Membership ends the membership immediately, removes access to the member side of the app, and deletes the account and its content. You can also email info@teslaownersflorida.org. An Apple subscription must still be canceled in Apple ID settings so Apple does not charge again.

Children

The website and the app are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the website or the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
